AN EVENING WITH MATIÈRES FÉCALES
On August 6th, 2026, Antidote brought together Atlanta's fashion community and hosted Matières Fécales designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran for an evening of extreme individuality and unlimited freedom. Translating to "Fecal Matter" in English, this Paris-based brand has become a home for the unapologetic and uncanny. Having recently dressed Gabbriette Bechtel for her wedding, dressed Zendaya for “The Odyssey" premiere with styling from Law Roach, and contributed several Met Gala looks this year, Matières Fécales has been inescapable.
This special night began with a showcase of pieces, including look 37 from their Fall/Winter 2025 collection: a gleaming white strapless wedding gown. Elevated into the air, the garment was on full display for fashion fans to experience firsthand. Dalton and Bhaskaran's iconic heeless skin boots were encased in a glass box positioned at the entrance for guests to see one of the brand's most famous pieces. A flesh-like boot resembling a post-human foot, balanced on a heel-less platform, stares back at you. The designers made controversial headlines back in 2018 for creating a skin-mimicking accessory that snatched eyes across the world.
Beneath the fête, a large panel of screens depicted a voyeuristic short film of characters shot in Antidote's dressing rooms evolving and devolving in "The One Percent" collection. This TV installation flickered through reflective moments and created a quieter nook for the evening.
Installations of revered fashion photographer Nick Knight's editorial shoot with the brand were hung larger-than-life, suspended above Antidote's entrance and staircase. Guests were able to fully immerse themselves in the Matières Fécales universe with a firsthand look at the Fall/Winter 2026 collection entitled "The One Percent," which also served as a critique on the human obsession with power and wealth. Hand-distressed tweed ensembles in pink and white neatly hung from metal rails like artwork in the space, while premium denim and knits covered the rest of the store. For one night only, Atlanta was consumed by Matières Fécales with Dalton and Bhaskaran standing at the helm.
With the night gaining momentum, guests filed out to the courtyard at sunset and took their seats for a front-row look into the minds of the designers, conducted by fashion commentator Bliss Foster. Foster sat down to moderate a discussion with Dalton and Bhaskaran on their own odyssey into luxury fashion, what their design process is like, and more.
Young aspiring designers, Atlanta-bred musicians, and self-proclaimed fashion fans from all walks of life gravitated to these designers’ raw authenticity and devotion to individuality.
