WHY WE LOVE IT - PACO RABANNE SILVER SCARF
WHY WE LOVE IT - Aug 9, 2021
Château d'Hérouville 1973
David Bowie, still in his Ziggy Stardust phase, sits at a mixing console littered with ashtrays and cigarette packets, putting the finishing touches on PinUps, his album of covers to be released later that year. In knee high boots, slim, patterned jeans, and an unbuttoned shirt in striped lurex, he looks every inch the louche pop star that he was. But it’s what’s around his neck that makes the look so striking: a scarf made of silver metal mesh hanging rakishly on his collarbone.
After we spotted that same scarf in Paco Rabanne’s F/W '21 collection, it was a no-brainer that we’d bring it in. It’s part 1960s futurist mod, 1970s disco glam, 1980s new waver…. whatever you want it to be, it's these cultural connections that we live for.
