GARMENT X-RAY - SHIRTING

Endless fits, collars, cuffs, and pockets, the button-up shirt has evolved into a canvas of personal style. Take a closer look at how deeply customizable this wardrobe staple has become.

COLLARS

There are plenty of collar styles, and each one subtly changes the feel of an outfit. The point collar is the most classic and easy to wear, while the spread collar feels a bit more modern and works well with bigger tie knots. The wing tip collar is strictly formal, made for black-tie moments, whereas the button-down collar is more relaxed and casual. The round collar adds a softer, slightly vintage touch, and the band collar keeps things clean and minimal with no fold at all. Even small changes like these can completely shift the overall look.

CUFFS

The barrel cuff is the slimmest and most classic cuff on a button-up shirt, making it a go-to for everyday wear. It can be customized with a single-button or double-button closure for a slightly different look and fit. The French cuff is more elevated and formal, designed to be worn with cufflinks, it folds back on itself for a refined, layered effect. Short straight cuffs keep things simple and minimal, giving off a clean, casual style, while an angled cuff adds a bit more personality with its sharp, asymmetrical detail that brings subtle character to the shirt.

POCKETS

Many button-down shirts also feature different pocket styles that can shift the overall look. A more polished, dress shirt style usually has no pockets for a clean, streamlined finish, while Patch pockets give off a more relaxed, casual feel. Flap pockets, often with button or snap closures, add a bit of detail and lean casual as well. For a more functional vibe, utility pockets bring in a sporty, workwear-inspired edge that feels both practical and modern.
